Purpose
The purpose of the UKFORUMs Newsletter is to bring you the latest information about our family of CompuServe forums. In it we'll try and give you a small taste of what is going on in the Forums, and we'll highlight some files and message threads from each Forum.

The UKFORUMs are the number one place for UK CompuServe members to meet and discuss any topic that is of interest to them. This is also the place for CompuServe members in other countries to find answers to questions on UK specific matters. Members from other countries will find a warm welcome awaiting them from all on the UKFORUMs and we look forward to hearing from you wherever you are.

Interesting Threads/Messages:
Does air pollution affect the colour of the peppered moth? See what others have to say in message #967621 entitled, Peppered moth in the Science&Technology message section. The library file, pepmoth.zip (see reference below) started this discussion.
Are men and women treated different at work? Some think so and are discussing it in message #971824 entitled, Differences at work... in the Women Today message section.

Interesting Files:
pepmoth.zip, in the Science library, discusses information about the lightening of the peppered moth population following reduction in pollution. This topic is also being discussed in the Science&Technology message section (see reference above).
britfo.txt, in the Food/Drink/Pub library, is an American's opinion of "British Cuisine." 

UK Information Technology

This is the place to discuss any Information Technology related topic.

Interesting Files:

UK Medical

You will find this Forum is packed with UK Medical Professionals, and those who wish to talk with them. Please do bear in mind that the Forum is a discussion area, and not a replacement for seeing your Doctor.

UK Money

UKMONEY is one place where you can read and write about money without drowning in MLM adverts or get rich quick schemes, and with the emphasis on the pound rather than the dollar. UKMONEY is designed to be a place where those in the Finance Industries can come together and exchange messages with others in the field, and also a place where the layperson can ask questions about finance and benefit from the experience of other members.

UK Police/999

This is the place to discuss UK policing. Despite a perceived lack of esteem in some quarters, the UK Police service is still considered the best in the world, and is the envy of many countries. Here you can meet and debate with those involved in the job. We have officers here ranging from Constable to Chief Constable, and almost every UK police force is represented, along with others from all corners of the world.

CITIZA_1.TXT (located in the Ask The Police Files library) provides a short answer to what a Citizens Arrest is all about, as given by a forum member.

UK Recreation

This is the place to discuss any UK Recreation related matters.

Are you a Beatles fan? STRBRY.GIF (a photo of the fence surrounding Strawberry Fields in Liverpool) is one of many Beatles' related photos in the Music/Bands/Hi library.
UK.TXT (located in the Beer/Wine Spirits library) is a short text file that looks at the changes to the Brewing Industry in the UK during the early nineties. It encompasses the pub industry following Government legislation, i.e. the challenge to the Monopoly by the smaller new breweries.

 
UK Professionals

This is the place where UK Professionals meet and where others seek their views. This highly successful mix of people from all aspects of professional life is one of the strongest communities on the CompuServe system. Many here have worked with one another to enhance the quality of their professional careers.

CGTHELP.EXE contains a workbook in Microsoft Excel for Office 97 (Windows 95/98/NT) illustrating the power, limitations and terms of distribution of another workbook with the capability to mix and match a variety of conditions in computing gains chargeable to UK Capital Gains Tax. It is located in the Accounting/Finance library.
forbes.txt (in the Computing/IT library) contains an excerpt from Jeffrey Young's book "Forbes Greatest Technology Stories," which covers nearly every major innovation in the use of technology this century and the fascinating people behind them.

UK Sport

Chat about what's going on in the world of UK sport here on the UK Sport Forum. Exchange messages with fellow sports enthusiasts all over the world.

Last Chance for Summer BBQ!

This is your last chance to reserve your place at the Summer BBQ! So, don't delay, BOOK NOW!

This is the Member BBQ which is taking place on Sunday July the 30th at the Sportsman Hotel Chorleywood, just off the M25, and near the M1 and M40. Also right next to Chorleywood BR/Underground Station. Our members traditionally turn up there in great numbers and seem to enjoy the day a great deal.
